The KidzMatter Blog/7 Creative Ways to Show Volunteers Appreciation This Month

Your volunteers are the heartbeat of your ministry. They serve faithfully, show up with joy, and help make every event, class, and service run smoothly. This month, why not surprise them with a little extra love? Whether you’re looking for something simple, sweet, or a little creative, here are seven fun and thoughtful ways to say “thank you” to the people who make ministry happen!

1. Mini Donut Appreciation
A sweet and simple way to make someone smile! Package up mini donuts with a cute tag that says something like “Donut know what we’d do without you!”

You’ll need:
• Packages of mini donuts
• Ribbon
• “Thankful for You” or appreciation tags

2. Fall Snack Mix Bar
Set up a festive fall snack mix bar where volunteers can build their own treat! Or, pre-mix the goodies and let them scoop their own portion into treat bags. It’s colorful, customizable, and delicious.

You’ll need:
• Small treat bags, paper bags, or snack baggies
• Ribbon or twist ties
• An appreciation sign or tags
• Snack mix ingredients (choose a few favorites!):

o Pretzels (plain or chocolate-covered)
o Corn Chex
o Candy corn
o Candy pumpkins
o Rolos
o Fall M&Ms
o Reese’s Pieces
o Caramel corn
o Nuts

3. Reese’s Pieces Appreciation
Who doesn’t love peanut butter and chocolate? Package Reese’s Pieces with a tag that says “We love you to pieces!”

You’ll need:
• Reese’s Pieces
• Plastic treat bags
• Ribbon or raffia
• Appreciation tags

4. Gratitude Bags
Sometimes, a small gesture goes a long way. These gratitude bags are perfect for leaving on chairs or desks before a volunteer meeting or Sunday service.

You’ll need:
• Two pieces of chocolate (like Lindor balls, Hershey Kisses, or miniatures)
• Small treat bags
• Ribbon
• Gratitude tags

5. “So Thankful for You” Cookie Bags
Homemade or store-bought, cookies always say love! Package them in treat bags with a tag that says “So thankful for you!”

You’ll need:
• Cookies
• Plastic treat bags
• Twist ties or ribbon/raffia
• Thankful tags

6. Miniature Pie Bar
This one feels extra cozy and fall-themed! Pick up an assortment of mini pies from your local store and create a charming pie bar. Add a napkin, fork, and ribbon for a special touch.

You’ll need:
• Mini pies (Walmart has great options!)
• Napkins
• Plastic forks
• Ribbon (to tie fork and napkin to the pie box)
• A big appreciation sign for your table

7. Thankful for You Caramel Apples
Nothing says fall quite like caramel apples! These are easy to assemble and make a fun, seasonal treat.

You’ll need:
• Apples
• Individual caramel dip cups
• Plastic treat bags
• Ribbon
• “Thankful for You” tags

Wrap-Up
Whether it’s a donut, a cookie, or a caramel apple, the real gift is the heart behind it. Your volunteers pour so much love and energy into serving; taking time to thank them in creative ways shows that you see them, value them, and appreciate their faithfulness.

Small gestures can make a big impact. So go ahead, choose one (or all!) of these fun ideas and spread some gratitude this month!
