When children's ministry gets busy, choose breath prayers instead of rushing or panicking. Slow down, pray, ask God to fill you with His peace, and remember that every child is worthy of your full attention.
Children's ministry can be loud, fast-paced, and full of unexpected moments. When the schedule gets hectic, it's easy to react instead of respond.
Choosing a breath prayer is more than simply calming ourselves—it's creating space for God to work through us. A breath prayer reminds us to pause, surrender the moment to Him, and remember why we're here. The spilled snack, the crying preschooler, the energetic fifth grader, the last-minute schedule change, and even the difficult conversation are all opportunities to reflect the patience, grace, and love of Christ.
"Be still, and know that I am God."
Psalm 46:10
What Is a Breath Prayer?
A breath prayer is a short, simple prayer you pray as you slowly breathe in and out. It helps refocus your heart on God's presence in the middle of a busy or stressful moment.
How to Practice a Breath Prayer
1. Pause for a moment.
2. Take a slow, deep breath in while praying the first phrase.
3. Slowly breathe out while praying the second phrase.
4. Continue serving with your attention on the child or team member in front of you.
It only takes a few seconds, but it can shift your focus from the pressure of the moment to the presence of Christ.

This Week's Challenge
When things feel overwhelming this week:
• Pause.
• Take one slow, deep breath.
• Whisper a simple prayer.
• Ask God to fill you with His peace.
• Smile at the child—or the team member—in front of you.
• Trust that God is working, even in the middle of the chaos.
Sometimes the greatest ministry doesn't happen in our perfectly planned moments. It happens in the pauses—when we choose grace, rely on the Holy Spirit, and allow God's presence to guide our words, attitudes, and actions.
Choose breath prayers, not hurried hearts. Every moment is another opportunity to show the children and your team the love of Jesus.
"Let all that you do be done in love."
1 Corinthians 16:14
